Poem 1 - The Victor
If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t
If you like to win but think you can’t,
It’s almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost.
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a fellow’s will
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are.
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win the prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.
- C.W. Longenecker

Poem 2- The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
-Robert Frost

Poem 3- Somewhere Over the Rainbow
(actually the lyrics from the song, but love this song)
Somewhere, over the rainbow, way up high.
There’s a land that I heard of Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere, over the rainbow, skies are blue.
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
Someday I’ll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops, Away above the chimney tops.
That’s where you’ll find me.
Somewhere, over the rainbow, bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow,
Why then – oh, why can’t I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow,
Why, oh, why can’t I?

Poem 4 - Quote of Happiness
When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long
at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.
-Helen Keller

Poem 5- Can’t Help Falling in Love with You – Elton John
Wise men say only fools rush in
But I cant help falling in love with you
Shall I stay
Would it be a sin
If I cant help falling in love with you
Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I cant help falling in love with you
Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I cant help falling in love with you
For I cant help falling in love with you

Poem 6 – Quote
Perhaps it would be a good idea, fantastic as it sounds, to muffle every telephone, stop every motor and halt all activity for an hour some day to give people a chance to ponder for a few minutes on what it is all about, why they are living, and what they really want.
-James Truslow Adams

Poem 7 – Quote
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.
- Dr. Seuss

Poem 8 – Quote
Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
- Dr. Seuss

Poem 9
You must have control of the authorship of your own destiny. The pen that writes your life story must be held in your own hand.
-Irene C. Kassorla

Poem 10-Stars shining bright above you (song Lyrics)
Night breezes seem to whisper “I love you”
Birds singing in the sycamore tree
Dream a little dream of me
Say “Night-ie night” and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you’ll miss me
While I’m alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me
Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss
I’m longing to linger till dawn, dear
Just saying this
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
-Gus Kahn

-Maya Angelou

Poem 14
“I’m selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes,
I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t
handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me
at my best.”
-Marilyn Monroe

Poem 15
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed
by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
- Mark Twain

Poem 16
“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift.
That’s why we call it ‘the present’.”
-Eleanor Roosevelt

Poem 17
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you say,
people will forget what you did, but people will
never forget how you made them feel.”
-Maya Angelou

Poem 18 – Lyrics to ‘My Way’  Poppas song
And now, the end is here
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I’ll say it clear
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain
I’ve lived a life thats full
I travelled each and every highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way.
Regrets, I’ve had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way.
Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up, and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way.
I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried
I’ve had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way,
“oh, no, oh, no, not me, I did it my way.”
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows and did it my way.
Yes, it was my way.
-Frank Sinatra

Poem 19
Friendship isn’t about whom you have known the longest,

Follow your dreams, for as you dream, you shall become.

Poem 24
"I admit it's tempting to wish for the perfect boss - the perfect parent - or the perfect outfit. But maybe the best any of us can do is not quit, play the hand we've been dealt and accesorice what we've got"

Poem 25
"You decide every moment of every day, who you are and what you believe in. You get a second chance, every second."

Poem 26
"Fall down seven times - get up eight"

Poem 27
"It's not how well you can weather the storm, it's how well you dance in the rain."

Poem 28
"I believe that everything happens for a reason, people change so you can learn to let things go wrong, so you can appreciate them when they go right. You believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good thing fall apart so better things fall together.:

Poem 29
"Life is to short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't, and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance; take it. If it changes your life; let it. Nobody said that it would be easy, they just said that it would be worth it."
